Scotland, the real home of
golf, is rightly proud of its golfing tradition. It is a part of the Scottish way of life.
Given this golfing pedigree, it's not surprising that some
of the world's most famous courses are to be found in Scotland, including the Old Course
at St. Andrews and the
other Open Championship courses at Carnoustie, Muirfield, Royal Troon and Turnberry.
With
approximately 500 courses throughout the country, visiting golfers will have little
difficulty in getting a game by just turning up. Apart from a handful of courses where
access can be difficult, there are scores of "hidden gems" which represent
excellent value for money and where visitors can appreciate true Scottish hospitality.
