The first edition of this
little work was privately printed for the writer's own family and friends
only, but as several applications were made for copies this enlarged edition
has been placed in the publisher's hands.
Not having been originally
intended for publication several extracts were made without preserving the
names of the authorities, which the general reader will not require, but, as
the dates have been generally given, the critical reader will find no
difficulty in verifying my statements.
