There’s a
graveyard in Virginia
Where Americans go to renew
Mowed and clipped and tidied up
Markers open to view.
Set aside
by our forefathers
With vision that stirs the heart
To honor those who gave their lives
By placing them apart.
Names
revered, steps in time,
Affirming what we believe
Eternal sacrifice by those living
So Freedom will ever breathe!
Still a
noble experiment
Take men for what they are
Common enough without pretense
Success yet dimly far!
A proud
American a wonderful thing
As a citizen in ancient Rome
Ever-ready for a clarion call
To make this graveyard Home! |
