This ancient stone which
seems to be dated 1563 (and possibly 1386) sits in St Medden's kirkyard at
Cothal, near Fintry on the north side of the Don River, 3 or 4 mile up from
Dyce.
As we have established this
week the kirkyard is in private hands of Forbes-Sempil of Craigievar.
I think translated the stone
reads - John Seton of Disbalir died 1563.
In the centre IS or JS and MP
is presumably for his wife.
Should you be able to provide
any information or a better translation for this stone please email Stan
Bruce at Stanley.Bruce@dnv.com
