Introduction

This guide has been prepared primarily as an aid for those who are researching Scottish genealogy and local history at the Library of Congress, but it will also be useful for those searching in other large libraries. It is not comprehensive and is intended to be supplemented by Judith P. Reid's Sources for Research in English Genealogy and P. William Filby's American & British Genealogy & Heraldry: A Selected List of Books (Z5311.F55 1983).  Our thanks to the Library of Congress for providing this information.

marriages, and deaths. Few Scottish parish registers have been
published. Unpublished Scottish parish registers are at the New
