I have been researching my mothers family of Rodger, and
discovered that her Grandparents James Rodger and Margaret Dalrymple came from Wemyss,
Fife. They were born 1855 and 1857 respectively. James's parents were James Rodger b 1815
Scoonie and Ann Dryburgh b 1820. His grandparents were Andrew Rodger b 1777 and Isabel
Keddy. Andrews parents were probably John Rodger and Margaret Carmichael, born
in the 1750s. Going back to the beginning, Margaret Dalrymple's parents were
Henry Dalrymple b 1819 and Janet Salmond b 1820 (all Wemyss, Fife). Henry's parents
were Henry b 1792 and Euphemia Reid b 1799 (Wemyss). This 1792 Henry was born to Henry b
1741 and Helen Beatson. Henry's (b 1741) parents were James Dalrymple & Anna Thomson
born 1707 & 1708 respectively. If anyone can see a link with this family
history, I will be pleased to know, because there is lots I have not put down in this
article and can pass on.
