Seeking information on my Grandfather.
John Kear ROBERTSON (B:March 30, 1879) at Dumfries
Apprenticed as an Engineer at McKinnon Brothers in Aberdeen.
Served in South Africa (Boer War) 1900-1903 in Orange River Colony with
the South African ( Baden Powell) Police
Regimental # 2598 24 Troop "E" Division
Discharged December 1903 at Bethune, Orange River.
Came to Canada, Souris , Manitoba (when ?)
Joined Canadian Expeditionary Force in Saskatoon ( 65th Bttn) August 1915
Transferred to 54th. Bttn July 1916
11th. Machine Gun Corps
Discharge St. Johns, New Brunswick . March 24th., 1919
Settled on soldier settlement land north of Courtenay B.C. , CANADA at
Grantham
Married Agnes Anne WATT at Edinburgh on December 14, 1917
I have little information regarding my Grandfather and wish to know more
of the man, specifially the period from the Boer War to the start of World
War I. Any information or internet referrals would be greatly appreciated.
