The obituary of James Robertson:
OBIT: The Gleaner, Etc., Volume V.1., No. 1, p.87; DEATHS, At Bathurst,
on Wednesday the 29th ultimo.
MR. JAMES ROBERTSON, aged 98 years. Mr. R. was a native of Banffshire,
Scotland, and emigrated to this country about the year 1764. He was
employed for several years as Master Cooper in the service of the
celebrated Commodore Walker -- he visited Scotland the last time about the
year 1775, when he married, and returned to this parish with his wife,
since which period he has steadily resided upon his farm. Mr. R. at the
time of his death, was not only the oldest, but the longest resident of
Great Britain in this County, and perhaps the Province--his memory till
within a few days of his death remained unimpaired, and he was a faithful
and very interesting chronicle of events, occurring at a period, since
which the face of the Country as well as that of Society, has undergone an
almost total change. Mr. R. had left upwards of ninety descendants now
living. (dtd ca 29 Nov 1834).
