My father was Earl Ruebin MacDonald who was
married to Grace Maria (Remington) who was the daughter of Dennis
Remingston a civil war veteran of the Illinois 8th Cavalry and was a
cousin of famous painter, Frederick Remington. Earl was one of the first
licenced Architects in California after the state passed the licensing
act. Earl's mother was Etta Jane (Ward) of the William Ward genealogy of
Sudburry MA dating back from 17-- and the first wife of Clinton MacDonald,
my Grandfather. Clinton had another family by another wife, Buelah and
settled in Seattle WA where we are near at this time. Clinton's father, my
great Grandfather came over from Scotland and Canada to Miniasota and may
have been the original "Old MacDonald had a farm" as he had a
Horse raising farm near Mineapolis. It was said that my ggf married an
indian and that he came from the Islands west of Scotland but I have yet
to discover the exact connections. Dennis Remington, my maternal
Grandfather was married to ____(Peterson) of Swedish descent.
I worked as a draftsman, designer, Projec
Manager and specification writer for Architects and Engineers in
California, Oregon and Washington. My wife Blanche Louise (Gordy), was
born in Maryland but raised in Richmond Virginia where I met her while in
the Navy, thanks to the assistance of her 2 brothers, one a Marine and one
a Sailor. We have been married 53 years and lived in San Diego, Los
Angeles, San Francisco, Portland and Seattle. My last job was with the
Austin Company and I wrote the construction specifications for the huge
final assembly plant for the Boeing Company at Everett WA. I have been
retired from them since 1989.
