Biographies of Scots and Scots Descendants (B)
John Boyd |
My
ancestor, John Boyd came to Boston circa 1720 where he married Margaret
Long on 11 April 1731. He had five sons, John Jr., Abraham, Samuel, David,
and William. Abraham settled in Wilmington, Vermont. His son
Luther Jr., went west to Columbus, Ohio circa 1820. His son Luther Boyd
Jr., farmed in Ohio. His son Richard Boyd went to Peru, Indiana circa
1907. My grandfather, George S. Boyd was an engineer and followed the oil
wells in Louisiana, and Texas during the heyday of oil exploration. He
came to Michigan during the Depression of the 1930s where other relatives
lived. My father Mancell Lee Boyd worked at a defense factory during and
after World War II. I live in Rogers City, Michigan (at the top of the
mitten) am retired, and enjoy searching my family history and everything
Scottish. I believe John Boyd (above) is a son of Capt. James Boyd who was
born in Dumfrieshire, Scotland in 1669, younger son of the 1st Earl of
Kilmarnock. If you think you are connected to these Boyds, please
contact me. RichBoyd@Core.com
