Walk 4. New Lanark and the Falls of Clyde
Walk from an 18th century
'model village' to the River Clyde's highest falls.
Pioneer industrialist Robert Own went against the grain when he turned tiny
New Lanark into a model village 200 years ago. Rejecting the exploitative habits of his
contemporaries, Owen created a beautiful place that has now been restored as a World
Heritage Village and draws visitors all year round. Beyond the village lies the wooded
Falls of Clyde Nature Reserve, managed by the Scottish Wildlife Trust (SWT).
