Lyrics composed by
John Henderson on the 8th of February, 2016
to Joe Santly's 1916 music for the song 'Moonshine
Sally'
The piano player here is William Axtmann.
I like when Tom's Tuba 'oomps' alongside Sammy's Sax;
It's unbelievable all the groovy punchs that each packs.
Charlie's Cornet and Sid's Strings add much to ev'ry set
When they all get together as 'The Trad and Swing Quartet'.
Chorus:
Sounding very snappy, they make me so happy
That 'Trad Jazz' is back again.
They play 'Stomps' often, then cool 'Jump-Blues' to soften
Any strain upon the brain.
'Two-Steps' and some strutting cause prancing and shuff'ling,
Like Gene Kelly in the rain.
This brings much craving to 'Swing' 'Ain't Misbehaving',
Or some more in Dixieland vein.
I like when Piano chords along with tinkling notes
Are played by syncopators with two hands that seem to float.
Charlie's daughter's joined the band and accompanies each set.
So now all get together as 'The Trad and Swing Quintet'.
Chorus: Twice !
Sounding very snappy, they still make me happy
That 'Trad Jazz' is back again.
They play 'Stomps' often, then cool 'Jump-Blues' to soften
Any strain upon the brain.
'Two-Steps' and some strutting cause prancing and shuff'ling,
Like Gene Kelly in the rain.
This brings much craving to 'Swing' 'Ain't Misbehaving',
Or some more in Dixieland vein. |
