Lyrics composed by
John Henderson on the 20th of June, 2011,
to John Brown's 1940's waltz called, "Old
Victoria".
Blair just loved Scots' melodies that were played by fiddlers
four or more,
And he'd chat right merrily with each lass he danced around the
floor;
And it did not really matter much what dance the fiddlers
played,
He was always cheerily partnering each widow and each maid.....
He being handsome too, admirers just grew and grew,
Until lovely shy Jean Smart soon caused him to end all that!
Her eyes, were so blue, and her complexion so fair,
That she, captured the heart, of the dashing chatty Blair.
"That Jean, lots of people they've often thought, she seems to
have caught,
That Blair McWhirter that others have sought;
For the two now dance ev'ry dance as if in a trance,
And Blair gives no other a glance."
That Blair, lots of people they've often thought, he seems to
have caught,
A very pretty lass others never have sought;
For the two now dance ev'ry dance as if in a trance,
And Jean gives no other a glance."
[.... a few months later ....]
Blair still loves Scots' melodies that are played by fiddlers
four or more,
But he chats right lovingly with just one when dancing round the
floor! |
