Lyrics composed by
John Henderson on the 9th of December, 2008
to Todd Robbins 1913 'Snow Deer Rag', played here by J.L. Cook.
Musical Introduction
"Jump on your sleigh
Santa pray;
Don't delay;
Please come our way,"
That's what Jack and Jill say
At early bed-time
While upstairs climbing ....
It's no surprise,
When each lies,
With closed eyes,
While every reindeer arrives with supplies,
Until the sunrise,
Of Christmas morn.
It's a great wonder,
While children slumber,
That old Santa misses none,
And leaves gifts for everyone;
What's even better,
From each one's letter,
And what each child asks him for,
He brings in time.
He works so hard every year
With all of his smart elves and deer,
That when Christmas Eve comes near,
They're all ready, full of cheer;
His sleigh has such great magical power,
It flies at ten light years per hour,
Thus visits all house chimneys round the world,
Before the sun.
Musical Interlude .....
"Jump off from your sleigh
Santa pray;
'Hit the hay';
You've been away,
Is what most parents say
When seeing so early
Their happy children ....
"Because of you,
And your crew,
Passing through,
And so delighting those who know that you're true
At every Christmas,
And all year too.
You work so hard every year,
With all of your smart elves and deer,
That when Christmas Eve comes near,
You're all ready, full of cheer;
Your sleigh has such great magical power,
It flies at ten light years per hour,
Thus visits all house chimneys round the world,
Before the sun." |
