Lyrics composed by
John Henderson on 23rd November, 2007,
to Charlie Kunz's playing of the tune to Tobias & Simon's 'The
Old Lamplighter'.
The time has come for Santa's reindeer
To get in trim for Christmas Eve,
For they are the ones who'll visit
All children who believe.
They'll have to do their exercises,
And get their teamwork to work out just right ... to
Make sure that they can cover
The world in one night.
I hear the jingle of their bells,
As their anticipation swells,
With presents mounting higher on their sleigh;
I see them zooming round the sky,
Above old Santa's watchful eye,
To each well earn their feed of hay each day;
While the elves keep on bundling toys,
For deserving girls and boys,
Who'd written cards and sent them on their way.
..................
Then at last for all the reindeer,
They hear old Santa shout out, "Let's Go!
For time it flies and so must we
Through sun, rain and snow
So girls and boys with eyes shut tight
Who do not waken through the night,
Will have a very happy Christmas Day."
