The Bard of Banff
The Santa Claus Song

Stan emailed me saying...

Fed up hearing Mariah Carey and Shakin’ Stevens 3 or 4 times a day?

How about singing a new song for Christmas, be the first to sing ‘The Santa Claus Song’ here on Electric Scotland..

You never know maybe next year it’ll be played as much as Mariah!

The Santa Claus Song
(Goes to the tune of Billy Connolly’s Welly Boot song).

Billy Connolly - If It Wisnae' Fur Yer Wellies
(First Live TV Appearance, STV 1976)

Santa Claus is wonderful, Santa Claus is great,
He wears a red and white suit, and he eats after-eights.
His reindeer they are magic, they can really fly,
They pull his sledge at Christmas, high in the sky.

Chorus

If it wasnae for Santa Claus, where would we be?
We widnae have any pressies, under the Christmas tree,
We widnae have Rudolph flying magicly,
If it wisnae for Santa Claus and Christmas.

When you’re sleeping in your bed, late in Christmas Eve,
Santa will come down your chimney, with many pressie to leave,
So switch off your light, and cuddle up tight,
Because he’s very shy and likes to keep out of sight.

Santa loves the snow, this I think you know,
My name’s Billy Connolly, and I love my banjo,
Santa loves the girls, and Santa loves the boys,
He loves you all so very much, he brings you lots of toys.

At Christmas, I look forward, to see an angel on my tree,
Lots of sparkling lights, is what I love to see,
So kids, send your list to Santa and I hope he will agree,
That You’ve been very good this year….. and deserve a nice pressie….

And he also sent in this old Buckie postcard which he found and thought we might enjoy and he's wishing us all a Merry Christmas.
