Our thanks to John Henderson for doing this book for us. Here is
what he told me by way of introduction...
Here is another wee book of pictures/descriptions
that I would like to add to my weekly diet ... not least because it
starts with Lochmaben where my Great Great Grandfather John Maxwell
RICHARDSON was one of King Robert the Bruce’s 'kindly tenant-portioner'
ancestors referred to in the accompanying text, and was also alive as a
‘Portioner and Joiner’ in Hightae, Lochmaben at the time of this book’s
compilation in 1882.
