To make a no-sew sachet, cut a piece of
your tartan or other fabric 12 inches by 13 inches. Remove the
horizontal threads at each short end of the fabric to make a 1/2-inch
fringe. Iron on a fusible web strip 3/4-inch wide along one of the long
edges of the fabric. With right sides together, fold fabric in half,
matching the long edges. Press to fuse the edges together. Cool then
turn right side out. Measure in 3 inches from one end. Gather and secure
tightly with a rubber band. Fill the roll with dried lavendar or other
potpourri. Gather the open end 3 inches down and secure with a rubber
band. Cut 4 (9-inch) lengths of ribbon or 6 (1 yard) lengths of raffia.
Tie each end with 2 lengths of the ribbon and knot the ends or use three
lengths of the raffia at each end and tie them in bows. Hot-glue dried
flowers over the center of the ribbon or raffia bows. These will keep
your linens fresh or put one in your suitcase so your clothes will smell
wonderful when you arrive.
