Gold Boxes with Pajamas |
A
few years ago at Christmas, I bought some brown paper boxes – they
come in various sizes and shapes - at the hobby store then sprayed them
with gold paint. I glued Victorian pictures on them for the women and
pictures of boats, airplanes, sports items, etc. for the men. I then
used green and red hobby paints and sponge painted here and there (buy a
good sea sponge and moisten it, wringing out all excess water, then
lightly dip it into the paint and lightly dab it onto the box) on the
boxes then sprayed over all with spray varnish. These need to be done
about a month ahead of time so the paint smells are no longer there when
you put the gift items inside. I included pajamas for each person, a bag
of microwave popcorn, a packet of hot chocolate mix, and a gift
certificate for the video rental store. The boxes were tied up with gold
wired ribbon to which a nametag was attached. The tags were made of
white cardstock cut 4 1/2 inches long by 2 1/2 inches wide. Use a hole
punch to punch a hole in the center of one end so you can run a small
gold ribbon or cord through for tying on the package. Glue a piece of
fern on one side of the tag – the fern looks like a Christmas tree. To
some of the tags, I also glued on a small stuffed snowman I had found at
the hobby store. Write the person’s name on the other side of the tag. |
