My 4-year-old granddaughter Lauren loves
to bake bread. She does the mixing and kneading and is always quite
proud of herself when the fresh bread comes out of the oven. Of course,
an adult needs to supervise for a child her age. Here is the recipe she
uses.
You'll need:
2 c. warm water
1 1/2 T. yeast
2/3 c. sugar
4 T. oil
1 1/2 tsp. salt
5-6 c. flour
Mix water, yeast and sugar until yeast is
dissolved. Add salt and oil. Work in flour, 2 cups at a time. Knead till
it looks smooth. Let raise in warm place for 1 hour. Knead and form into
loaves and let raise 1/2 hour. Put into greased loaf pans and bake for
30 minutes at 350 degrees.
