Today was another day into
Williamson to do some business. First stop was at the BB&T Bank to
open up a personal and business checking account. Long wait to see the
manager but I was told that this was Social Security day and so the banks
were real busy. Eventually got in to her and got everything sorted
out.
One interesting option was
on the checking account. I could get an ordinary checking account
but if I was prepared to open up a checking account + account then I got
all kinds of discounts on all kinds of things plus a free supply of
checks. So.. I thought what the heck and went for the + one :-)
Another interesting thing
was with the business account. No free checks with them but it was
interesting to note that they actually recommended going to a printer to
get them as that way it would be a lot cheaper. Anyway... got
everything all signed up and the accounts went live right away and my
debit cards will be with me within 10 days.
Then it was off to the
means wear shop where I needed to get a pair of trousers. They cost
me $53.00 including an alternation charge. At this time that would
be £29.00 in the UK so not a bad price all considered. I also got a
pair of jeans just to fit a bit more into the local cover :-)
Next it was a visit to the
"Cool Spot" where Steve got his Killians and then it was onto WalMart to
do some shopping where I also picked up a pair of shoes. I thought we were
just in for a few items but ended up with an overloaded shopping tolley.
Then it was up to Radio
Shack to see if we could transfer Steve's mobile phone to myself but they
ended up not being able to do it so we will need to go into Pikeville to
get that done. It was then onto Belfrey for me to get a notarised
copy of my passport for the next visa application and then it was back to
the house.
Steve then headed back over
to pick up Deb from work and I got on with some computing work.
This evening I've been
doing a major job of editing a lot of the pictures I took as I got emails
in saying they were rather dark so hope my editing will make a difference.
Deb and Steve arrived back
with food.. roast beef sandwiches and baked potato with broccoli and
cheese.
Tonight it was onto the
WalMart site to order a copy of QuickBooks for the new company.
Also had the bright idea
after talking to Anne MacPherson about going to Toyota to ask if they'd
like to provide me with a Toyota "Highlander" vehicle in return for me
giving them an advert on the site. Sounded like a great idea from my
point of view anyway.. so do keep your fingers crossed :-) |
