Scottish Independence and Scotland's Future
Commonwealth

During his visit to Edinburgh, the Secretary-General officiated at the re-launching of the Royal Commonwealth Society's (RCS) branch in Scotland. He said the expansion of the RCS to Scotland is a good sign of the strengthening of the Commonwealth's identity.

RCS Scotland is part of the Commonwealth's thriving civil society community. He urged RCS Scotland to continue playing a role in promoting the Commonwealth such as the RCS has done for Commonwealth Day. He commended the RCS for disseminating information on the Commonwealth to schools. It helped people to learn both about the Commonwealth's work, and its shared values.

Our future is not in the Commonwealth
By Andrew Lilico, CapX
Some commentators like to fantasise about the UK playing a leading role in the Commonwealth and using it to project our power and values across the world. But there is no basis for that. The assembly is a waste of diplomatic bandwidth. We'd be better off focusing our attention on a different group of allies.
