DOUGAL,
a surname derived from Dhu-gal, the Gaelic for dark complexioned
stranger, this being the name given to the son of the famous Somerled,
lord of the Isles, who flourished in the twelfth century, and the
patronymic of his descendants, the clan M’Dugal.
