Donna's Poems
The Way of our World
by Donna Flood

Native American Grandfather, steps up.
Holds his grandchildren for his cup.

Cousin Henrietta, she wanted the council,
But by now, I think she's had her fill.

Tomorrow is a naming for a tiny princess,
I'm going, just to see tiny beauty in dress.

Trial over for cousin and justice is found.
He is on the way to happy hunting ground.

All that is left of that is long ago joy,
When he walked beside boy.

Fall to our knees pray for niece.
You witnessed Great Spirit, the fleece.

Today, each day we tried the best we could.
Just the way, Great Spirit said, we should.

March the first, fourteen days from the ides,
2002 came you from the moon and the tides.
