Our hands, our lives,
blend together like watercolors
A drop of water here will spread the hue aimlessly.
There was a day, it
seems so long ago,
We ran, we played, energy flowed as shamelessly.
I thought you were so
beautiful and loving.
Now, I know this was a child's intuition.
How could this have
been true even then,
So young we were with no hint of fruition,
For all the dreams and
hopes we knew not,
So busy were we with the power of endless game.
We liked each other for
nothing more than we just did,
Too young we were to know of boys, passion and flame.
spinning, hurrying, seeing nothing,
But crisp white shirts, blue skirts, black curls,
without words we were happy,
Fun all tied up with ribbons on little girls.
Upon a paper the
restless color, waiting to speak,
Like our lives we learned there is no control.
May I reply to the
sound of your voice so grieved,
If I could just return us to that yester year.
See you again with pink
glowing face from running hard,
Hold in my vision your countenance free from fear.
Sudden tragedy you have
For the bringing to you deep remorse,
Let me offer only a
silent and quiet prayer,
In the strength I know of you, to hold your course.
You spoke words to me
in the time of your grief,
Words to help me stop my foolish thoughts to start.
No written note I need
to make, you said,
"I will remember, your name is on my heart."
