Poetry of 2006 by Donna Flood
Cool Breezes Win

As sure as the sweltering heat
Immersed us from head to feet
Making sure we knew our place
While it glared, in our face.
Poof! Like a small explosion
It ripped away with erosion,
Off and gone kicking its heels
Let me tell you how it feels
To know the sensation
Of a cool breeze, what elation!
With great watering of posies
They survived, even the rosies,
Stand they now, withered not.
Careful you, lest you forgot
Yesterday’s cruel furnace blast
Only temporarily gone, at last.
If we feel like we’ve been sassed
Oh well, for now that’s passed.
