Beauty of the Old Masters
by Donna Flood
Rembrandt

True Master  Rembrandt.
Never said, "Can't."
His style was then,
Bold, heavy, paint not thin,
Light caught at a  place,
On hand, neck and face.
No end to techniques,
Kissed his models cheeks.
The strongest statement,
When the elderly gent,
Took his last cash gift,
To buy a brush and swift.

For my observation,
There was the duration,
Of commissioned portraits,
Executed so well and straight,
For his own pleasure,
There was a different measure,
The work was all relaxed,
Sweet rest from like museum of wax.
