Lift the Silver Cup to a Dun Lap
by Donna Flood

Just when we stumble and go to our knee
Someone will come lift us tall so we can see

We might crumple a paper cup from the Git & Go
Toss the paper in the can for it, there all settin' low.

Still we have each other and there is a drink of a better wine
Taken from a silver cup, and let me tell you. You are fine.

And after they've made their brags that it is a "Dun Deal."
They'll never know the Laps we've run across this great field.

When He promised He wouldn't put on us more than we could bear,
Truly he knew more than we about the blood of those of kin so fair.

True these races we've run on a separate plane,
And all of a sudden we know,  the path has been just the same.
