I am Ron Dow from Grangemouth Scotland, I run and own an import export
business specialising in China
Before falling into this business I have been in the multiple retail trade
where I was the youngest manger the company had aged 17 years after being
with the company since I was 13 years of age as a par time shelf stacker.
I
then moved on and started my own small bed and breakfast operation in 1988
and property letting then in to the licence trade where I was for many
years.
I
went to Hong Kong on holiday and met my now friend Mathew Leung as he was
asked to show us around Hong Kong when we were there by my Chinese friend
here in Scotland
Now I spend up to 6 months a year in China mainland on business, we
specialise in sourcing product for companies in the United Kingdom, our new
project for 2011 is to import wine and whisky into china as this is the
fastest growing market in the world for this type of product, we have opened
offices in Guangzhou a city with around 18 million people in southern China.
Our aim is to help small to medium size companies enter china via our
company Guangzhou Import And Export Company. Or if any company want to
source a product from china we will also assist then to do this using our
wide knowledge of how things work in this fantastic country.
We
have been in china now for 12 years and I am still learning it is so
difficult to do business there and nothing is as easy as they make it sound.
They will sell you and make you anything but I still find the quality or
their understanding is still far different from the west but again we are
dealing with a culture which is over 3000 years old and have to take this
into account. Because when you say to them this is not the way it is done in
the west they just tell you (BUT THIS IS CHINA)
We
