Very hard luck to Clan
Henderson but as 2nd place runners up they do win a free years
subscription to the Burke's Peerage & Gentry online database and
electronic magazine, Avatus.
Here is what the judges had
to say...
Clan
Henderson's tent was beautiful. Their tartan was backed by yellow fabric
on the front of the tent and draped attractively to invite visitors
inside. They flew a 20 foot pole with an American flag, the NC State Flag
and the Clan Henderson tartan banner.
Their tent featured flowers (even displayed to hide the tent poles) and
books and artifacts...and also Alexander Henderson who is an antique
Cabbage Patch Doll. Alexander was outfitted in a Clan Henderson
kilt...real sporran, real shoes and shirt and even a real Balmoral
complete with clan badge!
The tables were skirted and covered with tartan...they offered books for
use...and were friendly, hospitable and welcoming. They had comfortable
chairs for visitors and offered refreshments to all. Their handmade
Henderson banners were attractive and surely made their tent a standout.
Clan Henderson features, as part of their "display" the Walkabout...where
Clan Henderson members are piped about all over Clan Row. The Walkabout
is a tradition at all Games where Clan Henderson appears...because their
chief, Dr. John Henderson of Fordell, lives in Australia and is
Australian. Clan Henderson also performs the Kilt Baptism at many
Games...where brand new kilts are given a taste of Scotch.
