Ginkgo
by Terry Cochrane

GINKGOGINKGO – Ginkgo biloba
Maidenhair Tree

From China & Japan: cultivated everywhere else!

The Chinese and Japanese immigrants to America brought the leaves of this wonderful medicinal tree with them! They used it as an antiasthmatic, a bronchodilator, and memory enhancer. Studies have shown that it does all that and more! It also activates platelets and improves circulation and helps fix vertigo and tinnitus.

The average dose by capsule is 40mg, three times daily (mostly for senile dementia) for three months. Extract dose is also 40mg, 3x per day. There is research ongoing to study ginkgo to help with relief of auditory nerve damage that could benefit from improved blood flow.

This herb can have side effects for a few people. It can cause dermatitis, and can be toxic in large amounts with effects such as vomiting, irritability, and restlessness.
