2 cups rice
4 cups water
1 pound and ½ ground chuck
1/4 cup soy sauce
Salt
Pepper
Heat 4 cups water in a large stew pan. Dash of iodized sea salt over the
water. Add two cups rice to the water and allow this to come to a boil.
Cover with a tight lid and turn the flame down to as low as possible.
White rice will cook in about fifteen minutes.
Put six patties of ground chuck which have
been seasoned with sea salt and pepper in a large skillet. Brown well on
both sides. When both sides are browned pour two cups of water plus 1/4
cup soy sauce over this. Cover and allow to cook over a low flame another
fifteen minutes. If the liquid becomes scant add another half cup. If you
keep the flame down the water won't cook away.
As soon as rice is done, take one-half of it
out and spread over a large deep platter. Arrange the ground chuck patties
on top of the rice. Pour the liquid from the skillet over the meat patties
and rice. The left over
rice store in a tightly covered container for morning. Rice with milk and
sugar is a special treat for breakfast. The children love it. |
