The Council of Scottish Clans &
Associations Annual General Meeting 2002 was called to order at 1 PM at
the Chief’s Tent, Grandfather Mountain Highland Games, by Council
President Lt. Col. Bob Heston.
Heston said that the Board of
Trustees had recommended that the current officers be maintained for the
next two years. The motion carried.
Heston reported that the website for
the Highland Games contract will expire next February. We will explore the
offer from Family Tree and Electric Scotland to host the site on the
<http://electricscotland.com> site at no charge.
Heston said that The Family Tree had
made an offer to all of the Scottish Clan organizations to publish their
individual newsletters at no charge on the Internet at the <http://electricscotland.com>
Bob Heston said that Nancy Groce
from The Smithsonian Institution in Washington, DC is at the Grandfather
Mountain Highland Games. Dr. Groce is working on the Folk Life Exhibition
for next year in Washington. Scotland has pledged 550 £s toward the
exhibit.
Kurt Muir is the new COSCA
webmaster. Kurt has done an outstanding job and is working on the CD-Rom
which will feature all of the Scottish Clans who send information to him.
Lt. Col. Heston asked for sept names
from each clan. He is working on building a CD-Rom which will the
authoritative list from which we can all work.
There are three new Trustees for
COSCA: Chris Harrison from Colorado and Jim and Michaele Finegan from
Washington, DC.
COSCA has opened membership to
individuals. $25 membership fee will cover both husband and wife although
each $25 is one vote.
George Douglas, COSCA Vice President
reported that the survey taken of COSCA member clans showed that the COSCA
workshops are of interest to the members.
Bob Heston made a motion that the
meeting adjourn.
