Another dog in
downtown Moultrie? This very quiet canine lives on the front steps of the
old Carnegie Library - now law offices - downtown.
The old Carnegie
Library, downtown Moultrie. It was built at the turn of the 19th century
when the main concern of the citizens of Moultrie was if anyone would use
a library here! Now law offices, the building is beautifully preserved.
It was used as the library in Moultrie until the mid 1960s when the new
public library was built a few blocks away.
Moultrie, at
almost every season, is a city of flowers. In summer, the crape myrtles
bloom all over downtown. Springtime brings dogwood and azaleas and
Cherokee roses. In the fall, chrysanthemums abound and even in winter
evergreens and poinsettias make the city bright.

The Eternal Flame,
at the monument, downtown Moultrie. This flame burns always to honor
Colquitt County veterans who have served their country. This is the
setting for Memorial Day services and other occasions when our patriotism
shines.
We're very proud
of our glass entrance to The Ellen Payne Odom Genealogy Library. We're a
private library located in the wing of the Moultrie-Colquitt County Public
Library. We're easy to find once you get to Moultrie...from the bypass
(319), turn west at Hardee's. Go until you see McDonald's and turn left
at the next light...and there we are! |
