Heraldry Course – Atlanta – November 2004

The Scottish Society of  Armigers is please to announce that it will be holding its first Heraldry Course in Atlanta between the 5 and 7th November 2004.  The course will be taught by Mrs. Elizabeth A. Roads, MVO, Carrick Pursuivant of Arms and Clerk to Lyon Court.

The course is outlined below:

·        Basic Heraldry – What is it? – Origins & Civil Development

·        Lyon Court – Procedures, Petitions, Grants, Matriculations, Proofs & Designations

·        Herladry and the Clan System

·        Design of Arms – Development of Charges

·        Other Lyon Work – Ceremonial and research

·        Questions and Answers

More details, including the venue and course requirements will be posted on the Society’s website, www.scotarmigers.net.  Participants will be required to have copies of several books, and this reading list will also be available on the website shortly.
