Alexander W. 'Alec' Hay, FSA Scot. was honored by his clan,
during the Saint Andrew's Day dinner, held on November 20 in Bourne,
MA. Alec received the 'Medal of the Ox Yoke' which is given by the
Clan Hay Society. A parchment plaque and specially cast pewter
medallion was presented by Hay clansman, Bill Wolf. The Medal of the
Ox Yoke is awarded in recognition for length of service to the
American Branch of The Clan Hay Society. It was fitting for Alec
receive this in the presence of his New England Scots friends, who are
witness to his years of work and dedication on behalf of Clan Hay.
Alec and his award is pictured here along with his wife Bonnie, better
known as The Countess and the Clan Hay Tent Manager.
Everyone who attends a New England event is
familiar with the sight of Alec marching on the field during opening
ceremonies with his Ox Yoke over his shoulder....and his resounding
shout that if it "wasn't for a Hay, Scotland would be called Denmark".
Congratulations Alec - A HAY! A HAY! A HAY !
