On Saturday, November 6th, the
Amelia Island Genealogical Society will present " The Spirit of
Bosque Bello", a stroll through the Bosque Bello Cemetery in
historic Fernandina Beach, Florida. Guided tours of the cemetery,
co-sponsored by the City of Fernandina will focus on the oldest
section of Bosque Bello, relating the stories of the families and
individuals who shaped Fernandina, Amelia Island, and Nassau County,
from the Spanish period in 1800 through the Golden Age of the late
1800s and early 1900s. Come enjoy the tales of the famous, the
infamous, and the no-so-famous everyday men and women who left their
marks on this area of Florida.
The tours will be conducted
continuously during this one-day event from 9:30am through 3pm. The
tour route is four tents of a mile long and the guided tour will
last approximately one hour. Tour patrons should enter the cemetery
from 14th Street at the main entrance and follow signs for parking.
Rest areas will be set up along the tour route should they be
needed.
Tickets for this event are $5 in
advance, or $7 if purchased on the day of the event. Advance
