THE 38TH ANNUAL MONTEREY SCOTTISH GAMES & CELTIC FESTIVAL TO BE HELD ON AUGUST 6TH AND 7TH AT MONTEREY COUNTY TORO PARK

February 25, 2005, Monterey, CA, The Scottish Society of the Monterey Peninsula has announced that the 38th Annual Monterey Scottish Games & Celtic Festival will be held on Saturday and Sunday, August 6th and 7th, 2005, from 9:00 A.M to 5:00 P.M., at the spacious, pastoral Monterey County Toro Park on Monterey/Salinas Highway 68.

The very popular Celtic celebration brings the music, dance and athletic events of the mystical lands of Scotland and Ireland to Monterey County. Featuring fun activities for the whole family, the Scottish Games & Celtic Festival will offer a variety of live Celtic entertainment with massed pipe bands on parade, including world competition bands, and Scottish and Irish singers and dancers. In addition, there will be exciting Scottish heavy athletic competition events, including the famous Caber Toss. Other fun and colorful activities will include pipe band competitions, Drum Major competitions, Highland Dancing, Scottish Country Dancing, Irish Step Dancing, Clan and Celtic Association Tents, the “Gathering of the Clans,” and much more. There will be lots of fun and games for the wee ones at the children's games, too. Delicious Irish, Scottish and other British food and drink and unique crafts, jewelry, clothing, and music will be enjoyed by all. Presented by the Scottish Society of the Monterey Peninsula, a portion of the Festival proceeds will benefit many non-profit organizations.
