Mrs. Herb NEWELL of Fayette, AL, will be honored at the annual reunion
of the BOBO Family Assn. will be 27 to 30 May 2005 in Tuscaloosa and
Fayette, AL. Family members from 13 states are expected to attend..
Many BOBOs from Virginia and South Caroline 1700 and 1800s
settled in the Fayette area as the family spread over the United
States. Many descendants of the early settlers still reside in Fayette
County.
Mrs. NEWELL and her late husband, Herbert, published one of the
early books on the BOBO family, “BOBO…Cousins by the Dozens,”
more than 50 years ago. They also researched and produced several
other books on Fayette area genealogy.
Headquarters for the reunion will be the GuestLodge & Suites in
Tuscaloosa, with visits to sites of interest to the family in Fayette.
Guests will begin arriving in Tuscaloosa on Friday, 27 May, and
have an informal supper together that evening. The program will open
on Saturday morning, 28 May, at the Tuscaloosa GuestLodge, with
reports on family group activities by Charles H. (Chuck) BOBO,
Huntsville, AL, association coordinator; Robert G. (Bob) BOBO,
Franklinville, NJ, BOBO Family Tree Database coordinator; and by other
family researchers.
On Sunday morning, 29 May, Chuck BOBO and Bob BOBO will talk on
the Huguenot (Protestant) background of the family in France. The
group will then drive to Fayette for lunch before visiting cemeteries
and other sites of interest to the family.
They will return to Tuscaloosa for an informal dinner together.
Monday, 30 May, is an open day for visiting and other activities.
BOBO Family members are expected from Alabama, New Jersey,
Mississippi, Georgia, Tennessee, Texas, Arkansas, Ohio, California,
South Carolina, Kentucky, Oklahoma and Missouri.
