I've jinet up as a Gordon,
At hame I couldna bide,
For a' the fechtin' I had deen
Was at my ain fireside.
For Meg wid sae the ae thing
An' I wid sae the tither,
An' then of coorse, we'd baith fa' tee,
An' syne fa' oot wi' ither.
But aye she'd win the battle
An' treat me like a cloot.
First she'd dicht the fleer wi' me,
An' syne she'd wring me oot.
So I've jinet to be a sodger,
For at hame I couldna bide.
But noo that I'm a
Gordon
I'll be on the winnin' side.
Jist ae mair thing tho I maun say,
An' ask ye to believe,
Wi' a' the courage I've got here,
I'm feart to gang on leave!
