The name Sellars is likely
to mean 'saddler', or 'cellarer', the person in charge of a cellar or storeroom. In 1281 a
Colin Sellar owned some land in Aberdeen. A family called Sellars were blacksmiths in
Botriphnie, Banff, for over four centuries.
