Parker born Craigie Parrish near Irvine, Ayrshire, 1814 was the youngest
of the 7 brothers, if there were girls they were not mentioned. William
the oldest born 1802, one brother said to have died in "the China
Sea", the other 4 were in America by the Civil war, where 2 died. The
other two were known to be in California, but with no known names they
have not been found. John was a tailor in Kilmarnock by 1830, and married
in Portland St Kilmarnock 1836 to Ann Miller. William married Mary Boyd in
1827, banns posted in Galloway, Kilmarnock, and Dundonald. John and
William made the trip to Nova Scotia to arrange for work, and John moved
the family in 1840 after son Adam was born. John secured a contract to
make clothes for miners in New Albion mines; William is not in evidence
for a time. John's daughters Agnes, Mary, and Merren, born in Pictou Nova
Scotia, before the family moved to Boston where Julia was born 1844, but
shortly they all are in Oakham near Boston, where Maria, John and William
are born. |
