My ancestory from the Camerons can be traced back to 1756, to Catherine
Cameron of Oban. Her father is referred to as Cameron of Oban 'near of kin
to Lochiel'. He probably would have been old enough to have been part of
the "45" but he might have been 10 years old or much older, I
don't know. That is what I am trying to find out though. Catherine was
married and had many children, when she immigrated to Pennsylvania, with
her husband John Laurie (Lowrie). Their third son, Walter Lowrie, became a
Senator of the United States, during the 1820's. After that he worked to
try to help the Native Americans keep their lands, but he obviously was
not successful. His grandson, founded the American Society of Landscape
Architects, and was a Yale graduate of 1893. That is my bit of a Bio.
