Biographies of Scots and Scots Descendants (F)
Forrester,
James Summers |
Jim
is a first generation American, having been born in Aberdeen in 1937. His
mother and father were from Glasgow. Jim's father, was a golf
professional (same name) of some renown (he was known as the Sam Torrence
of his day) who died an untimely death in 1939 in Belgium after surgery
for appendicitis. His professional accomplishments are well documented in
Scottish golf history. Jim has been in the U.S. permanently since he
was 11 years old. Other than his immediate family, there are few relatives
in the U.S., and none left in Scotland, of which he has knowledge or
contact. Jim's Scottish lineage is documented for several generations and
he still frequently visits England/Scotland looking for signature golf
clubs made by his father. In 1994, in memory of his father, Jim was
granted personal
armorial bearings by Lord Lyon Malcom Innes, Edinburgh.
Jim Forrester is a physician in Family Practice, a Republican N.C. State
Senator, and a retired Brigadier General in the U.S. Air Force (NCANG).
He is married to Mary Frances (All) and they have four grown children and
five grandchildren. His address is P.O. Box 459, Stanley, N.C.
