Father Malcolm F. Ewen. He was a naval
officer and engineer who served with Farragut at Fort Sumter in the battle
of Mobile Bay an also on the Iroquois and the Illinois. Captured in war,
he was incarcerated for a time in Libby prison. Following the close of
hostilities, he was for many years chief engineer of railroad construction
in Chili and Peru and executed the construction of many famous railroad
and harbor works in those countries. He died at 64.
