Our family has
been doing extensive research on Allardyce, Allardice, Allerdice,
Allderdice (and about 44 other spellings) please access site via. www.ardisnet.com
| www.allerdice.net
The family historian Bruce Allardice has written a well researched
monograph on the family history back to 1156. With bibliographical
annotations, which can be found at the website.
A brief history:
The ancient lands of Alrethes were given to Allardyce, in 1156. The Duke
of Montrose laid waste to the lands in 1541. Lady Mary Graham was married
to Sir John Allardice around 1644. Allardice castle which is 9 miles
outside of Stonehaven was built around the 1600's? possibly earlier. We
would love any information anyone can give us on the origins of Athrethes
and Allardyce. We are also looking for "cousins" who share the
name. Email addresses are available for more info.
The two sites deal with history, genealogy, pictures and stories.
We will be having our first family reunion at the Highland Games at
Stone Mountain, Stone Mountain, Georgia http://www.smhg.org/
in the USA in October 2001. Should anyone care to join us.
Thanks
