(b. 1874) Born in Glasgow,
Scotland, on August 29, 1874. He was educated in the public schools of
Glasgow and came to the United States in 1894. He married Elizabeth W.
Livingston on August 5, 1908. One daughter was born, Betty Agnes (Mrs.
Frank E. Novak). Mr. Alexander held various positions with Sears, Roebuck
and Company from 1900-1935. He became President of Allstate Insurance
Company in 1938. He was also Board Chairman of the Suburban Trust and
Savings Bank and a Vice-President of Creed and Stewart in Aurora. He was a
Republican, a Presbyterian, and a Mason. He was a member of the Oak Park
Country Club and the Chicago Athletic Club. His home was at 205 N. Lombard
Avenue in Oak Park, and his office was at 20 N. Wacker Dr. in Chicago. He
was President of the Illinois Saint Andrew Society in 1932 and 1933. |
