The name is from the
Gaelic MacGillcondaig, 'son of the gillie of (St) Findon', and the clan is known to have
inhabited the regions of Luss and Lorn, Argyll, from about 1500. William McLintock
(1873-1947), accountant and industrialist, was created a baronet in 1934.
