I attach photos of an
historic Pass permitting,as you can see, a party of McIntyres to travel
unhindered from Gleno (sic) to Inveraray. I bought this back from a man
who bought it at auction in England. It was originally in our family but
was removed by my grandfather's second wife. The date is significant
because of its proximity to Culloden when moving around Scotland was
probably quite hazardous. Thought you might be interested.
Best regards, Ian MacIntyre, 17th of Camus-na-h-Erie.
I have had this email from Ronnie Black, an archivist and Gaelic scholar, giving clear proof of the reason for the 1746 Pass being issued. Two documents which he sent do not seem to be included with this copied email so I will send them separately.
I hope you will find the history as fascinating as I did.
