Still far from complete, but a foundation, at least, for further research on this previously anonymous branch of Clan Macintyre and the Clan Chattan confederation.
Macintyre Battle Honours
Beyond their legendarily long term presence in the glens around Ben Cruachan, the Macintyres were known chiefly for their poets and pipers, though they were also very active in the field, albeit as a small clan in support of more powerful allies. As such, whatever is written about them has tended to be fragmentary. This article is a round-up, from available sources, of the Macintyres´ role in Scotland´s conflicts, both against clan rivals, and in support of the Stewart kings against the Auld Enemy. There follows a list – by no means comprehensive -of clan members decorated for valour during the colonial wars of the 19th century, and the great conflagrations of the 20th.
